Game Protocol
PRE-GAME |
- Home team wears White / Light color jerseys, unless pre-arranged |
- Home team responsible for Scorekeeper, Clock, and EMT/Trainer |
- Each team responsible for their own Penalty Box attendant |
GAME DETAILS |
- 5 Minute Warmup |
- National Anthem |
- 15 Minute Periods |
- Ice Cut after each period, (No Ice Cuts for J.V.) |
- No warmup after ice cut, players report straight to bench except for starters. |
MERCY RULE |
If team is up by 10 goals at the end of the second period, or anytime in 3rd.... |
- Game can be called, unless BOTH teams AND Officals agree to continue play. |
OVERTIME (VARSITY ONLY) |
- All CHC Varsity games will allow ONE 8-Minute sudden death overtime period |
- No ice cut, 5 on 5 play, Goalies do not switch ends. |
- If tied after OT, game will end in a draw. |
POST GAME |
- Both teams report scores/stats to CHC using Coach Login Link |

- 8-Minute sudden death |
- 4 on 4 play |
- Goalies back at normal ends |
- If still tied after OT #2, 3-Minute intermission, NO ice cut |
OVERTIME # 3 |
- 8-Minute sudden death |
- 4 on 4 play |
- Goalies at opposite ends (like the 2nd period) |
- If still tied after OT #3, ICE CUT |
OVERTIME # 4 |
- 8-Minute sudden death |
- 4 on 4 play |
- Goalies back at normal ends |
- If still tied after OT #4, 3-Minute intermission, NO ice cut |

SHOOTOUT |
- Goalies back at normal ends |
- Visiting Team shoots first |
- Round 1.... 3 shooters per team. Alternating shots. |
- If still tied after 3 shooters from each team, then single shooter rounds continue until one team scores and the other does not. |
- No player may shoot a second time, until one team exhausts all eligible shooters |
